Here are a series of photos taken by my wife and I on Christmas Day, 2014. Since it’s the only day of the year public transit is completely shut, it provides a rare opportunity to see the streets (almost) completely empty. Hope you enjoy:

However, even more surprising than walking around the near empty streets of London was seeing a large transport helicopter in Regent’s Park, with the blades still running, as we walked down to central London.
It looked like it was being used to be transport someone for a medical procedure, although it may have been a training exercise, as they didn’t seem to be in too much of a hurry. Does anyone know if this is a routine thing? Seems odd to use Regent’s Park as a helipad. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

The US Ambassador’s residence is in Regent’s Park so there’s a round-the-clock to-and-fro of black helicopters, sometimes unmarked, in that area. I’ve always assumed they belong to the US Secret Service. I guess it could be one of those?
Looked more like a search and rescue. Think it has to do with using Regents Park as a helipad.
